Mrs. Eubanks and Mrs. Laskowski are making Happy Health Bags for children who visit the emergency room at Connally Hospital. Each bag will have a tip written by the students to tell others how to stay safe and healthy. In addition, each bag will have a coloring book and crayons that the children are collecting. The staff of the emergency room will pass them out to children who are patients in the emergency room.  Here is a picture of some of the children with the coloring books they are collecting. Stay tuned to see the kids stuff the health bags and visit the hospital to deliver their bags.

Help the Cat Rescue of Floresville

February 2, 2010

Mrs. Richardson’s first grade class and Miss Erickson’s second grade class will sponsor the Cat Rescue of Floresville for our spring service/learning project. First we are collecting used plastic shopping bags (for poopie bags!), then each student will “Paws for Chores” and earn some money at home so we can buy 2 large trash cans for the Cat Rescue. Finally we will do Cat’s Play and make some catnip toys for the cats.

Any donated money to help spay or neuter the cats will be greatly appreciated.

Two days before the holiday break, Sheriff Tackitt returned to Floresville Primary to receive the toy donation for the Sheriff Santa program. The boys and girls are seen here holding the toys they collected waiting to hand them over to Sheriff Tackitt.

Classroom Buddies learn about Sheriff Santa

December 4, 2009

On Dec. 3, Sheriff Tackitt met with Mrs. Sandoval’s and Ms. Downs’ classes to explain the Sheriff Santa program. Toys are donated to the Sheriff Santa program and then they are delivered to local children who may not receive gifts for Christmas. The classes were able to ask many questions about the Sheriff Santa program and the types of gifts that the children might like or need. Many of the children have already decided what they want to donate!

November 10, 2009

Today, our primary students delivered their food drive donations to Ben Reed, FISD social worker. We gathered up our wagons, shopping carts, teacher carts and ice chests full of food and headed across the street. Mrs. Lawtum helped get us across the street and we all helped unload the food for Mr. Reed.

Food Drive Continues

November 6, 2009

We have seen many children bringing in non-perishable foods for our food drive! Today, for the letter E, children brought in Equal, enchilada sauce, enriched rice, entertainer crackers, elbow macaroni, egg noodles, easy melt cheese! Some of the children went to the office during announcements and shared with the campus what they had brought. Did you think of any other foods that started with the letter E?
