Cat Rescued at Floresville Primary

May 21, 2010

Hello,

My name is Monkey, and I was born and have lived on the Primary Campus for the past three years. They tell me that my home is going to be changed and that I can’t live here anymore. This morning the Campus Rescue Ladies decided to take me to a vet and change my life.

I am a little bit afraid but I trust this lady. She tells me that she will help find me a good and loving home. I am a grayish white male (soon to be neutered) cat with big blue eyes. I am leaving behind two other “Primary” friends that are not as tame as I am. Please join me in hoping that they are as lucky as I am and find good homes.

Sincerely,

Monkey ( as dictated to the Cat Rescue lady.)

Campus Beautification

May 18, 2010

Dear Floresville Primary School Community,

For the past six weeks, our class has been working on potting new plants in the containers located throughout our campus.  Many thanks goes out to a number of people.

I would like to thank Pfeil’s Home and Garden Materials and Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Pfeil for donating the potting soil for our planters.  We were able to replace the old soil in our planters with wonderful fresh soil.

A more eco-friendly system was put into place for our plants.  It consisted of a layer of aluminum cans, a layer of newspaper, and then the potting soil allowing the container to be lighter.  A big thank you goes to Mrs. Casey Pietka for this idea.

Special thanks goes to Mr. Johnny Hewell with the S. T. A. R. S. program.  Not only did he donate the plants for our pots, he allowed my Lifeskills class, Mrs. Cisneros’ ABLE class, and Ms. Oakes’ 2nd grade class to take a tour of the greenhouses and gardens.  Our students were able to plant beans and airplane plants, as well as, pick green beans and potatoes.

My class has truly enjoyed this service learning project.  We hope everyone takes a moment to enjoy the new plants showing up around campus.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Pfeil’s Lifeskills Classroom

Bilingual Classes Support Our Troops!

May 12, 2010

We have finally gotten a final destination for the troop we are supporting. We have gathered all the items that our classroom thought they could need and some items we thought that would cheer up their day. We have sent some beautiful bracelets, encouraging drawings and letters and lots and lots of goodies and necessities. We are truly grateful for what they are doing and for allowing us to shape our students into strong individuals with great character.

Mrs. Cardenas and Ms. De Anda’s  First and Second grade Bilingual Classes

Thank You For All Your Help!

Butterflies are released into campus butterfly garden.

May 4, 2010

For the past couple of weeks the second grade classrooms have been watching their butterflies emerge from their cocoons during science. Then they have been releasing them into the campus butterfly garden maintained by our classroom buddies. Recently, Mrs. Pruski was able to photograph one of the classes releasing their butterflies into the garden.
